About
Welcome to my site!
Here you’ll see all of my interests in one form or another! You’ll also get to know more about me in the process!
Art
I was a very active child and my family and aunts and uncles supported my creative efforts every chance they got by purchasing paint, brushes, paper, craft supplies, even rug hooking, and working with stained glass doing my own leading. I wish I still had a bunch of the stained glass, I had alot of fun with that one… although now I’d have to sub for the non-lead metals.
I started my art obsession however with pastels (chalk) and in kindergarten, one time being called to the principals office to find my parents there trying to explain to a 5yr old me that its not appropriate to draw/paint nude… i really didnt understand why, it was my grandmother and her back was turned so nothing showed… but being 5 didnt understand what censorship was, and later finding out from my parents that if I felt the desire to paint another nude that I could do it at home. that was all the “OK” I needed to forge ahead. I kept at it and did not start painting professionally until 2001 when I discovered Ebay (lol). I now can sell from my website and often get asked to do commissions.
My favorite medium is acrylics and oils. Something about how they blend together on the canvas that gives me that bonding experience where the painting talks to me on what to do next. It’s a tactile thing..
Photography

Photography I started that obsession in the early 80′s with a 35mm pentax and a 300mm zoom lens. I worked primarily in black and whites, high contrast with red or green filters to play more with the contrast. Since it was before the time of digital, I learned how to develop using my fathers developer and creating my own dark room. Winter was by far the best time to go on photosafarri, particularly just after a fresh heavy snowfall!
I’ve since found other subjects, in both nature and people. I have a myriad of weddings under my belt, along with my husband Jody! Weddings are always fun and we enjoy bringing the romance back into photography. I’ve learned to adapt my Olympus E300 with a 300 lens combined with a macro/wide-angle attachment on the end to simulate medium-format and large-format photography. Saves on the cost of one of those Hasselblads…!
I also enjoy macro photography and still black/white however my preference has shifted to people living life, or pure nature… I really like Ansel Adams and how he showed the world what he saw about the world from behind his lense!
